Sandbags, mud, and traffic cones lined the 500-feet of downtown Cabot, reminders

of the devastating July flooding that engulfed the area. The two lanes of road were reduced to one in that summer’s flooding event, but Cabot's community continued to rally.

Cabot has experience with flooding, but existing flood mitigation techniques were not enough as the rain poured over the small town. In the wake of the disaster, ideas for flood prevention include using techniques borrowed from beavers, but the constant flow of Cabot residents working to rebuild were more concerned with recovery efforts than future prevention.
