Chasing Sun Sets

Are we much different from the sun flowers that follow the sun each day? Each day, most rise and set with the star. It exists as a metronome to a life that wouldn't survive without it.

The sun is almost a nuissance during a day. Too bright and too hot, it literally melts our skin with its kiss. Without that radiance, nothing could survive in the habitable zone.

And we know that each day, at least to some subconcious level. In the moments that feel limited are the only ones that we truly appreciate our celestial partner. The sun rise is something new with the return of the warmth we once knew. Its familiar feeling may come with a day of baggage, but that's not really on the mind as the deep colors shift through atmosphere. It's so pretty.

Another day of survival is an accomplisment to everything. Rewards are redundant yet neccessary to convince that today's tribulations were worth the strain. The sun sets, bringing cool air over the surface in an absince of heat. But the chills are worth the watch as the sun departs. One of two fleeting moments in a day that always feel long and filled with longing.
We're left with a memory of our star. Reflected light outstrechted as far as light will reach. An urge to run and hide from the cold sets in. Every moment mourning the fleeted moment will get more brisk. Dwelling means you won't survive, regardless of how familiar it is to dwell.
The sun sets, the ducks scurry home, and rest commences.

I really enjoyed reading the sunset “Star” article and photos. Your descriptive words warmed me and as “the sun set” I felt the cool chill. Bryce, you have a very special talent…bringing life to your words. You draw the reader into your articles, making them real and giving them life. Your photos are beautiful. Mom
